Truecaller is the most popular phone number identification service on our smartphones. If you have Truecaller installed on your phone, it will identify for you any unknown number. When you get an incoming call from an unknown number, the app tries to fetch for you the name from it’s data base as the phone rings. This gives you the option to decide whether you want to pick the call or not.
Sometimes however, Truecaller presents the wrong name or unclear name and this might make people not receive your calls because of the name they see from truecaller. This happens because of the structure that Truecaller uses to identify phone numbers.
Why Does Truecaller Display Wrong Names?
If 3 people have saved your phone number and they all have Truecaller installed on their phones, then the truecaller database will have 3 different names against your phone number. Truecaller reads your phonebook and saves the name you have used to store phone number in their data base.
For instance, if your name is John Stones, and you work at WebPro, then three different people might save your phone number with three different names like this: 1) John WebPro 2)Stones Webpro 3)John Stones
The three different names will be copied to Truecaller’s data base if the three people have Truecaller installed. If you call someone who has not saved your number in their phonebook, Truecaller will pick any of the three names to display. If the person you’re calling does not know you work at WebPro, and sees, ‘Stones WebPro’ as the name displayed by truecaller, he/she might be skeptical about receiving the call.
Usually Truecaller picks the name to display in alphabetical order if the names are more than one in the data base.
How To Get Your Truecaller Identity Right Every Time:
To get rid of all this confusion, you need to create a truecaller profile complete with your full name, phone number and if you want to, a profile picture. Now when you call someone who has not saved your number, your Truecaller profile will be displayed as the identity of the person calling.
Create a profile with your name and email address. You also have the option to sign in with your Facebook or Google account (I don’t recommend this).
Truecaller will ignore all the other names in the database and display your profile. If you work for a company, you can also include the name of the company you work for. This will make the people you call more likely to receive your calls.
When people search fro your number on Truecaller, they will see your profile with the correct name and details you make public. This increases the credibility of your phone number.
