The iPhone 16 models come with iOS 18 out of the box. With the advent of iOS 18, Apple introduced Game Mode. This feature, however, is not only exclusive to these latest iPhone offerings. It is also available on older iPhones running iOS 18.
This feature is designed to optimize your iPhone’s performance, reduce distractions, and make your games run smoother by prioritizing CPU and GPU resources. It also helps prevent interruptions by silencing notifications, incoming calls, and other pop-ups.
In this article, we’ll walk you through how to turn Game Mode ON / OFF on your iPhone 16 / 16 Pro. Although there’s no dedicated setting or button to enable and disable Game Mode, you can still do so at will.

Enable / Disable Game Mode
To activate game mode, simply open any game. This will automatically launch game mode. You will see the Game Mode: On confirmation. This is because there’s no dedicated button to turn game mode on or off on the iPhone 16 models or on iPhones running iOS 18 in general.
If you need to disable Game Mode, perhaps to return your device to its normal operation or to conserve battery life, simply exit the game. You can also enter multitasking mode and swipe the game upwards to close it.
This will revert your device to its standard settings, resuming all background activities and notifications as usual.
